Many followers on Instagram asked me for recipes with protein powder, and I'm really dedicated to making more! This Mugcake is rich in protein, with no added oils or sugars and super easy to prepare, literally it's put everything in the mug to go in the microwave.

This recipe is:

  • Very easy
  • No added fats or sugars
  • Rich in protein
  • A great option for your snacks or breakfasts

For this recipe you need:

  • Vegetable drink or milk
  • Oat flour
  • Coconut flour
  • Protein powder
  • Baking powder
  • Dark chocolate chips (optional)

What vegetable drink can I use?

I personally used almond, but you can use oat (sweeter and more caloric), soy or rice, for example. Another option is to use milk or water, however with water it has less flavor.

Can I use another flour besides oat?

You can use any flour or even crush oat flakes and use them as oat flour in this recipe. Flours such as whole wheat, spelt or rye will also work well.

Coconut flour why? How can I replace it?

Attention, coconut flour is not mandatory, but it helps the cake not to explode out when it is baking in the microwave by giving more density to the batter. When the batter is very liquid, with yeast it rises a lot and starts to overflow, which is what happened to me the first time I made this recipe.

Another option, lower in calories and even more interesting at a nutritional level, is to use Psyllium Flour, a dessert spoon, and let the batter rest for a few minutes before putting it in the microwave.

What protein to use?

Any protein will work well, however the one I used is one of my favorites at the moment, the flavor is chocolate chips and it is simply amazing and perfect for this recipe. Another flavor of the same protein that will also work well is brownie. I leave here the link of the protein I present in the image below.
