This recipe is undoubtedly one of the best recipes I've ever made, and to make it even better, it's without any added sugar! The base is naturally sweetened with dates and the filling has no added sugars, only sweetened by the chocolate I used. Isn't it fantastic?

Why will you love this recipe?

If you're a chocolate lover, there's no way you won't love this tart, that's for sure. Everyone who tried it LOVED it! Plus, besides having no added sugar, it's super easy and quick to prepare, you don't even need an oven.

For the base you need:

  • Pitted dates
  • Whole oat flour
  • Plant-based drink
  • Hazelnuts

For the filling you need:

  • Coconut milk (thick part)
  • Plant-based drink or coconut water
  • Dark chocolate (above 70% cocoa)
  • Agar agar (or gelatin powder)

How can I substitute the dates?

Dates give a very pleasant and sweet flavor to the base, you can use raisins or dried figs, however the flavor will not be the same.

Can I use another flour?

Yes, practically any other flour will work. Oat flour, rye, white wheat among others. If you have oat flakes at home, you can use them since everything will be blended.

Do I need to use hazelnuts?

No, you can use walnuts, almonds or peanuts, they will serve perfectly in this recipe.

How should the base dough look?

The base dough will look more or less like this in the image. When everything is blended, check if you can form a ball with the dough. If the dough doesn't come together well, add more plant-based drink since it might be too dry.

I don't have agar agar, now what?

Agar agar is not completely mandatory, however it helps solidify the filling a bit. You can skip it, though the filling might not be as firm, but the flavor will be exactly the same. Another option is to use gelatin powder (see amount below).

Where can I find coconut milk?

I bought my coconut milk at Mercadona, however you can find it in several supermarkets, such as Lidl or Continente.
