A much requested recipe on my instagram and since I never tasted it (yes, shame on me), I decided to try a sweet rice in my own way, low in sugars and vegan! Besides having turned out delicious it is also super simple to make, will you try it?

For this sweet rice you need:

  • Vegetable drink
  • Water
  • Rice
  • Vanilla Yummy drops or vanilla essence
  • Agave syrup
  • Lemon peel
  • Cinnamon stick

Which vegetable drink to use?

I used oat drink, it's the one I like the most to replace milk, however you can use any other drink or even milk, but it stops being vegan.

Which rice can I use?

I used Saludães brand rice specific for sweet rice, however carolino rice works perfectly too!

Is it necessary to use vanilla?

In this recipe vanilla helps reduce the amount of added sugar, so I think it is a very essential ingredient. However, if you don't have it, you can remove it and then use more sweetener.

  1. First step

    Add everything to a pot and turn on the heat to medium and let it come to a boil.

  2. Second step

    Let cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.

  3. Third step

    Lower the heat to minimum and put the lid on and let cook for another 10 to 15 minutes.

  4. Fourth step

    After cooking if it is dry add a little more vegetable drink and let cook 1 more minute.

  5. Fifth step

    Remove the lemon and cinnamon stick and serve with cinnamon powder.
